Position Overview
The construction mechanic plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment used in a variety of asphalt projects. This position requires hands-on expertise and a proactive approach to mechanical problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair construction machinery
Conduct routine inspections to identify wear, damage, or malfunction in mechanical systems.
Perform preventive maintenance according to schedule to minimize downtime.
Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues efficiently and safely.
Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
Work closely with supervisors and team members to coordinate repairs and equipment deployment.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and parts inventory.
Assist with training and mentoring junior mechanics as needed.
Respond to emergency breakdowns and support crews on site as required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in mechanics or related field preferred.
Proven experience as a mechanic in construction, heavy machinery, or similar industry (minimum 2 years recommended).
Strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Ability to use diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power tools proficiently.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Good physical stamina and ability to work in varying conditions (outdoors, heights, confined spaces).
Valid driver's license: CDL or equipment licenses are a plus.
Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a diverse team.

Work Environment
Our construction sites are dynamic and diverse. Mechanics are expected to adapt to changing project needs, working both independently and as part of a skilled crew.
